GCSE Maths & English Tutoring in Milton Keynes

Patient, one-to-one GCSE Maths and English tutoring, in person around Milton Keynes or online. I’m Tom, and since 2020 I’ve helped over 100 students find their confidence and their results.

GCSEs can feel like a mountain, especially when gaps from earlier years start to show. My approach is simple: find exactly where the gaps are, close them one by one, and build exam technique on top, with no panic and no pressure. Just steady progress, from Year 9 all the way through to exam season.

Sessions usually run 45 minutes to an hour, depending on what your child needs. In-person sessions start at £45, and online sessions cost a little less.

I tutor in person across Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, and online anywhere in the UK.

What I cover

GCSE Maths

Foundation and Higher tiers, number, algebra, geometry, and the problem-solving questions that catch students out. We work with whichever exam board your school uses.

GCSE English

Language and Literature, comprehension, analysis, and how to structure an answer the examiner actually wants to read.

KS3 groundwork

Years 7–9 are where gaps form. Catching them early makes the GCSE years far calmer, and I support adult learners and GCSE resits too.

How sessions work

  • We start with a free, no-obligation conversation and a friendly assessment of where your child is now
  • Weekly one-to-one sessions from £45, in person around Milton Keynes or online
  • Past-paper practice and exam technique when it matters, not endless drilling from day one
  • Free extra practice between sessions on my Practice Hub, including GCSE and KS3 questions
  • Regular feedback for parents, and honest advice about tiers and targets, I hold a BSc in Psychology and build confidence into every session
When is the right time to start GCSE tutoring?

Year 9 or 10 is ideal, there’s time to close gaps calmly before exam pressure arrives. But if your child is in Year 11 and things feel urgent, don’t worry: a focused plan can still make a real difference.

Foundation or Higher tier, how do we decide?

It depends on your child’s current level, their target grade, and how much time we have. After a few sessions I’ll give you an honest view, the right tier is the one that gets your child their best result, not the most impressive-sounding one.

Do you tutor adults or resit students?

Yes, I work with adult learners and GCSE resit students as well. The same patient approach applies, whatever your age.

Ready for calmer GCSE years?

The first conversation is free, with no obligation. Tell me where your child is struggling, and I’ll tell you honestly how I can help. You can also read what other parents say.
