SEN Tutoring & Home Education Support in Milton Keynes

Patient, tailored one-to-one tutoring for children with Special Educational Needs, and support for families educating outside school (EOTAS), in Milton Keynes and online.

I’m Tom. I hold a BSc in Psychology, and I’ve been tutoring since 2017, much of that time with children for whom school just isn’t working the way it should. My sessions are built around one idea: mistakes are part of learning, and we always go at your child’s pace. No pressure, no red pen, no comparing them to anyone else.

Sessions usually run 45 minutes to an hour, depending on what your child needs. In-person sessions start at £45, and online sessions cost a little less.

I tutor in person across Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, and online anywhere in the UK.

Who I help

  • Children with a wide range of additional needs, whose confidence has taken a knock at school
  • Children who are out of school and learning through an EOTAS package or home education
  • Home-educated children who need structured support in Maths or English
  • Anxious learners who need a patient, encouraging presence more than they need another worksheet

Every child is different, so I don’t offer a fixed programme. The first conversation is free, tell me about your child, what’s working and what isn’t, and I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit.

My approach

  • Positive Psychology, not pressure: we build on what your child can do, and small wins come first
  • Sessions shaped around your child’s interests: engagement first, then learning follows
  • Consistency and trust: the same friendly face every week, at a pace that never overwhelms
  • Working with you: regular feedback for parents, and I’m happy to work alongside existing support plans
  • Enhanced DBS checked: with sessions in person around Milton Keynes or online, whichever suits your child best
Can tutoring form part of an EOTAS or home-education package?

Yes, many families use one-to-one tutoring as part of a wider EOTAS or home-education arrangement. Get in touch and we can talk through what your child needs.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions start at £45, and the first conversation is always free with no obligation.

What if my child won’t engage with a tutor?

That’s more common than you’d think, and it’s exactly why I start slowly and build sessions around your child’s interests. There’s no pressure to perform in the first session, or any session. Trust comes first.
